THE VAC HERS PROCESS
Next phase in 5s
01

Initial HERS Report

We review the plans, building specifications and energy features to establish the initial HERS model and identify the requirements for the project.

Start with the model Early review helps the project team understand what will be needed before construction is complete.
02

Mass Save Submission

When applicable, we prepare and submit the project information needed to begin the Mass Save process.

Get the process moving Project documentation is organized early so required steps are easier to track.
03

Insulation Assessment & Cost

Know what your project needs before you spend more than necessary. VAC reviews the HERS model, energy code and insulation design—and can also help with the insulation trade.

HERS + Insulation We can help from the requirement through the insulation work.
  • What R-value is required
  • Where insulation is needed
  • How the insulation affects the HERS model
  • What installation needs to be verified
  • How to coordinate the insulation work
04

Blower Door & Duct Testing

We test the building envelope and duct system to measure actual air leakage and verify field performance against the project requirements.

Measure the real house Field testing confirms whether the finished work performs as expected.
05

Final HERS Report & Code Compliance

We incorporate the verified field results and prepare the final HERS documentation and energy-code compliance information for the project.

Document compliance The final report reflects the verified project conditions and test results.
06

Mass Save Final

When applicable, we complete the final testing and documentation required for the Mass Save process.

Complete the project Final documentation brings the HERS and applicable incentive process together.
